Sherry Blevins has served as Music Director since 1995.
She is currently a sought-after clinician conducting honor choirs
and leading workshops on choral techniques and motivating singers.
Sherry has a Master’s degree in Music Education with a concentration
in Choral Conducting from Appalachian State University where she
also taught undergraduate music methods.
A native North Carolinian, Sherry received her Bachelor of Music
degree with a principal in voice from the University of North Carolina
at Greensboro. During her tenure at Paw Creek, she has served as Associate Director of the Charlotte Children’s Choir and has taught at
the middle and elementary levels in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools
since 1992. She is currently the music specialist at Dilworth Visual
and Performing Arts Elementary School.
Some of Sherry’s proudest accomplishments have been included
being nominated by her CMS colleagues as their state nominee for
Teacher of theYear; being named “Who’s Who Among Students in
American Universities and Colleges”; and earning her Master’s
Degree in 2004. But, if you ask Sherry what her proudest moment
has been, she’ll tell you it was when an eight year-old told her she
was “funner than Christmas!”
Sherry loves sharing her love of music through worship with others
as she continues to lead the Chancel Choir, Children’s Choir, and
Youth Praise Team. She also enjoys teaching private voice and piano
lessons as well as performing as a soloist for weddings and other special events.
